A brief history

In the academic year1992-1993, it is created by restructuring, according to the Minister’s Order 5009 of 13.08.1992, the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, as a separate entity, with the specializations: Automation, Computers, Electromechanics, General Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics. In 1995, by the order of the Minister of Education 3795 of 17.04.1995 the name of the faculty becomes Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and beside the existing specializations there is added the Economical Engineering in the electrical, electronic and energetic domain. Since the academic year 2005-2006, the new name of the faculty has been the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, retaining its previous structure.

The mission of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, according to its own strategy is to train specialists with higher education - engineers with scientific knowledge, skills and abilities in the European and international performance in accordance with the requirements of market economy and new technologies. The actions of recent years aimed at constantly encouraging active partnership between the faculty and business partners in the interests of the local community, enhancing the quality of educational programs offered and the development of international relations. The Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology has the responsibility to train graduates with high professional and moral standards.

However, inorder to match the higher education system in Romania with those in the European area, the structure of curricula focus is a versatile training base to provide advanced knowledge of electrical engineering, electronics, automation, informatics and computer science for over 1,000 students.

The97 teachers of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology follow, besides the proper training of students, their good scientific training implying them in projects and research programs, the results of which can be harnessed through publications or contracts.

The faculty has an infrastructure of education and research, which both in terms of real estate, as well as equipment, is comparable to the most prestigious European universities. The curriculum is supported by modern teaching materials and equipment; many features are realized within the framework of international projects by Tempus, Erasmus, etc., by internal funding from the budget or through contracts with ministries and industrial units.

Universities in Romania were classified for the first time in history after European criteria by an international evaluation organism, the University of Oradea occupying a leading position, being in the category of universities of Education and Scientific Research.
